Games 9,10,11

Big weekend. I was sick as hell. Finished the damn memo...Now this week it's a 12-page appellate brief. Yet I have plans. Jeremy Hugus wants to go to Punxatawney (am I even close on that one?) on Wednesday. Party time Friday. Hockey Saturday. Oh, and celebrating the one for the thumb Sunday night...Called before, gonna call it again...Oh, and Nate almost got swept on Saturday. HAH!

Game 9: Columbus (Andy) 3 vs. Florida 2 [Nate wanted an asterisk of moderate size for this one. Apparently, that's what he uses when he gets beat by someone awful...]

Game 10: Calgary (Andy) 4 at Ottawa 2 [Needless to say, Ottawa's D is a little slow. My boys from the Saddledome put a little something on 'em...I think it was 2-0 about 4 minutes in, never looked back]

Game 11: Montreal (Nate) 5 at Colorado 4 [I thought after scoring to tie it at 4 with 35 seconds left, I had him...Not so much. He out dramatized me, too. Didn't even wait for OT. Just went for the jugular; I think he put in the game winner with about 12 seconds left.]

But this weekend shall hold more games, and more "mayhem". It's not really mayhem. It's just the most exciting part of the week.......

Totals:
Games - Andy 7, Nate 4
Goals - Andy 38, Nate 33

Games 3-8

Tonight's installment starts an awesome 24-hour run, which includes HOCKEY, EAT 'N PARK, FLAG FOOTBALL AND THE STEELERS GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL. I'M CALLING IT, BABY. (By the way, from now on, there will be occasional post game comments......so this is NATE and this is ANDY...Easy enough, right?

Game 3: Phoenix (Nate) 6 at Washington (Andy) 3 [I had a 3-1 lead. So yeah. Washington's D. Not so great]

Game 4: N.Y. Islanders (Nate) 4 vs. Atlanta (Andy) 1 [ So yeah, Kovalchuk looked awesome. Think he hit the net once on about 8 shots.]

Game 5: Carolina (Andy) 4 vs. Chicago (Nate) 1 [Eric Daze is so slow that when this 201-Game Series is over, he MIGHT have finished skating his lap].

Game 6: Edmonton (Andy) 3 vs. St. Louis (Nate) 1 [This is embarassing. I had 16 shots that game. And I take back what I said about Eric Daze. Low is definitely the slowest player].

Game 7: Boston (Andy) 4 at Calgary (Nate) 3 [*Sniff* Shoulda' won.]

*Game 8: Chicago (Andy) 3 vs. Los Angeles (Nate) 2 [THAT ONE GET'S A BIG FREAKIN' ASTERISK]

In game 8, Nate wants on the record that I scored the cheapest goal ever. I was hooking, offsides and interfering with goalie. (Boo-freakin-hoo)

Total Games: Andy 5, Nate 3
Total Score: Andy 27, Nate 24

Bad night for Nate. As he said, "Everything started out so swell...Then I lost like 13 straight". That's hyperbole, folks.

The Beginning (Games 1 & 2)

It's way easier to write into a blog than to actually create a website. I and my opponent are students at the University of Pittsburgh Law School. Andy Riley and Nate Kostelnik. Nate actually played hockey, I didn't. But, sadly, it doesn't show in his gameplay. Competition in the recently-purchased NHL '06 video game has led us to the only reasonable conclusion that could be found: that this purchase requires a 201-game series. Ultimately, this blog is meant to chronicle the journeys of a 201-game hockey series, and to occassionaly drop a line or two about crazy movies (which will mostly come from my Czech friend, who apparently has even less to do than I do). The rules are as follows: (1) each side will alternate home and road, with Nate getting the first home game (and hence 101 of the 201, and a slight advantage - he needs it); (2) the road player gets to pick his team first; (3) the home player must pick a team of equal or lesser rating; and (4) each player must use every NHL team at least once. 5 minute periods. Rule appropriate to the home team.

Game 1: Anaheim (Andy) 6 at Philadelphia (Nate) 1
Game 2: Carolina (Nate) 6 at Buffalo (Andy) 3

Up-to-the-minute totals:
Series standings: Andy 1, Nate 1
Total score: Andy 9, Nate 7

Now, it's just a 199-game series. It's all about who can rise up now, and win one hundred games.

Nate's favorite Pwn4ge (yes, I said ownage):
