So, It's Been A While

At this point, I'm pretty sure no one is reading this blog anymore. Maybe I should put it higher on my AIM profile. I don't know. It's also been a while since I've updated this. We're almost done with Olympics. That's a bummer. The Olympics are like Christmas, the anticipation is better than the event, almost. It's been so short a time for something so cool. Ah, well. So, the Natester and I have put down some more games, including a game between Ottawa and Dallas that was unbelievable. I go up 3-0 5 minutes in. He scores 5 unanswered in the PERIOD. So it's 5-3 after 1. I come back and take the lead in the third at 6-5. He ties it. I take the lead 7-6 with 35 seconds left. He ties it. Wins in OT. 8-7. Craziness.

Game 36: Detroit (Nate) 4 vs. Pittsburgh 2
Game 37: Philadelphia (Andy) 5 vs. Toronto 4
Game 38: Phoenix (Nate) 4 vs. N.Y. Rangers 1
Game 39: Washington (Nate) 3 at Carolina 1
Game 40: Detroit (Nate) 6 vs. Nashville 2

Game 42: Dallas (Andy) 2 vs. Calgary 1 (OT)
Game 43: San Jose (Andy) 6 at Montreal 4
Game 44: Buffalo (Nate) 4 at Washington 3
Game 45: Dallas (Nate) 8 vs Ottawa 7 - Worst goaltending ever. 40 Total Shots, 15 goals. You do the math.

A Bunch More Games - Olympics

So the Olympics just started with another absurd and creepy opening ceremony (again showing us why we should be thankful that we aren't European), and we honored them by injecting a couple more international games into our tournament. AND THE PENS BEAT THE 'CANES. ON THE ROAD! CHEESE-SAUCE! But not slight Carolinians, but I guarantee that Eric Staal would be the darling of Hartford, CT, in a perfect world.

Game 21: Colorado (Nate) 3 at Montreal 1
Game 22: Detroit (Nate) 6 vs. Nashville 5 (Shootout)
Game 23: New Jersey (Andy) vs Philadelphia 2 (Flyers = Over-rated!)
Game 24: Islanders (Andy) 4 @ Atlanta 3 (32 total shots for both teams...not exactly great
Game 25: Chicago (Andy) 5 vs Los Angeles 3!!!! (HA! What of your asterisk now, Nate??)
Game 26: Los Angeles (Nate) 5 vs Philadelphia 0
Game 27: St. Louis (Andy) 2 vs. Phoenix 1 (I consider that a victory in that I didn't get shut out. Solid, solid game.)
Game 28: San Jose (Nate) 5 vs. Pittsburgh 3
Game 29: Buffalo (Nate) 6 at Washington 4
Game 30: San Jose (Andy) 4 at Pittsburgh 1
Game 31: Dallas (Nate) 6 at Toronto 4
Game 32: Prague Meltdowns - An all-star team of mine (Andy) 5 at Meltdown (Nate) 4 (Overtime)
Game 33: Vancouver (Nate) 6 at Rangers 3
Game 34: Sweden 4 (Andy) at Czech Rep. 3
Game 35: (A couple of German or Dutch teams or something) Hanover (Andy) 9 vs Drjungarden 2 (Shots on Goal: Drjungarden 29-16, Shorthanded Goals: Hanover 6-0...Yes. Six shorthanded goals. One guy on my team had 5 shorthanded points. Silly.)

The One For the Thumb (AKA Games 12-20)

So my Steelers won Super Bowl XL. Going to the parade tomorrow...That should be sweet. I've watched the Darrell Jackson play about 20 times. Still looks like interference to me. No, it was interference. It was a stupid play, among many by Seattle, yet they want to blame it on the refs. That's why the Seahawks will never be a champion. Not with Holmgren there. In '01 Kordell Stewart said that the best team lost in the AFC Championship...If you have that kind of a mentality, you'll never have what it takes to rise up. Holmgren rode one of the greatest QBs to his one Championship. He's nothing without Favre - he's nothing now. I like Hasselbeck. I like Alexander. But their fans and their coach are whinos, and don't deserve a team this good. Good job, Seahawks. Seattle, on the other hand, can go to hell. They don't deserve what they have. If the Browns were that good, at least I'd know they'd be appreciated by fans with some class. That says more about Seattle than Cleveland.

Now, on to the mass of hockey that consumed my (and Nate's) Saturday night:
It was a good night. Ups and downs for both of us. I swatted Nate in the first game, before he went on a 4 game run to eventually tie the series. I pulled back ahead late, but the series is closer than the game total belies.

Game 12: N.Y. Rangers (Andy) 5 vs. Minnesota 0. (Worst team [sic] evar)
Game 13: Toronto (Nate) 3 vs. Dallas 2.
Game 14: Anaheim (Nate) 7 at Minnesota 3. (Dan Bylsma had 2 goals...So yeah, Minnesota is the worst team "evar" (ever).)
Game 15: Montreal (Nate) 5 vs. Detroit 4 - Overtime. (First OT game of the series. I was up 4-3 with 4.7 seconds left. And lost. I've been better about losses.)
Game 16: Columbus (Nate) 2 at Florida 1 (Shots: Florida 21, Columbus 7. Ugh.)
Game 17: Canada (Andy) 5 at Czech Republic 1 (Announcer quote of the series: "And the backhander would not have gone wide had it not changed its course in mid-flight." Good call.)
Game 18: New Jersey (Nate) 6 at Los Angeles 4.
Game 19: Montreal (Andy) 4 at Boston 1.
Game 20: N.Y. Rangers (Andy) 3 vs. N.Y. Rangers (Nate) 0. (Yes. That's right. I beat the Rangers with the Rangers. I also outscored my opponents 8-0 with the Rangers. I like 'em. I like 'em alot.)

This is the first weekend of the year with no legal writing to do. That means a lot more hockey to come. Oh yeah.
